myVillage evening visit

February 15, 2011

Made my 2nd visit to myVillage on Saturday. I was hoping to catch the sunset before having dinner at Shin Kushiya. We made it just in the nick of time. The traffic towards Serangoon Garden was quite horrendous. It was the inch and jerk type, I was almost quite sure the sun would have set by the time we got there.

Check out the photos I took here!

I didn’t know if we could actually catch the sunset on the roof of the myVillage mall, but apparently you can. The minute you get out of the escalator and onto the roof, the last of the sun’s rays hit you. Alas, it was pretty cloudy so I couldn’t get good pictures.

As I previously mentioned, being able to have rooftop access is pretty cool. Yeah it’s not the roof level of Marina Bay Sands, but the 3rd floor roof top of myVillage has its own charms. For one, you’re away from the hustle and bustle of the roads below. You still get to overlook most of the buildings in the vicinity, as they’re even shorter! You can get a really good view of the sky and the stars at night, cloud cover pending.

There’s also another cool spot which I bet hardly anyone knows about. It’s so secluded yet cool and romantic I wonder if I should share this secret with anyone. Right next to Shin Kushiya is an automatic door. Step through it and you’re on a ledge right outside the mall. The ledge is very narrow and long. I suppose it’s a smoker’s stop of sorts but no smokers were there. The night lighting made it quite interesting. I would post a picture of it but once again, my camera failed on me. Remember to let your camera assimilate to the humid temperature first before taking off the lens cap after coming from an air-conditioned place!!!

Not all the shops were open when I was there on Saturday. Apparently myVillage will be having its official opening ceremony this Sunday 20th February 2011. Check out the details at http://myvillage.sg/. Also check out my post on my 1st visit to myVillage as well as the blogger’s invite to myVillage and Shin Kushiya.

  1. I absolutely love this cosy place, but yeah the jam and parking can be a nightmare. I haven’t tried this japanese restaurant yet, but I really like the Old Hong Kong Taste.

You’re inspired me to finally get a domain. Just haven’t decided on a name yet. Having a space you own on the internet seems like a good thing like everyone’s been telling me, but I’ve been procrastinating about. I will probably still hang on to tiny island as my journal though. I like that I can talk about anything under the sun on that.

I am still a bit nervous about it all being not very good technically….but I guess I’ll learn along the way. I think you’ve inspired not only me, but other wordpress bloggers like J too 🙂
