Pan Pacific Edge Restaurant’s Revamped Dinner Buffet

Fans of Edge will be glad to know that the dinner buffet has been revamped and now boasts the following additions:

  • Double boiled soups station – 8 classic double-boiled soups will be available on rotation daily (Ginseng Chicken Soup, Lotus Root with Cuttlefish Pork Bone, Apple-Pear Pork Soup with Bitter and Sweet Almonds etc)
  • Theatrical display of Teh Tarik and Cendol with Durian Ice Cream
  • Enhanced seafood station – You can now DIY your own seafood in a cup
  • New Amuse Bouche – Truffle Scented Green Soba, Udon with Goma Dressing and Unagi with Confit Potato

I think the double-boiled soups and Teh Tarik in particular would appeal to the older generation, so if you are looking for a dinner buffet venue for multi-generational families, this might just be the place.

That is not to say that the younger generation would not like this. I bet you many with Instagrams will be flocking to this teh tarik station for a shot of this. Erm yours truly included, in fact it was my 1st pit stop.

Senso’s revamped Sunday Prosecco Brunch

Hands up those of you who would love luxuriating in a long Sunday brunch complete with free-flow bubbly? I would too, but such affairs are usually in excess of $100 especially if you are talking about hotel buffets. Here’s a place that comes in at just under $100++ ($98++), not much cheaper but every little bit helps right? The price must be alright because it was completely full indoors when I was there.

Check out Senso Ristorante & Bar, whose Sunday Prosecco Brunch includes a buffet spread of antipasti (such as Normandy Oysters, Prawns, Italian Cold Cuts) and desserts. There are also a few mains to choose from, with no limit on the number of orders. There is also a live station every week, ranging from a Raclette Cheese station to a Roast Beef carving station.

So why Senso? If you want a Prosecco Brunch with a strong focus on Italian food, this is the place to be. They have a huge selection of Italian antipasti such as cold cuts, carpaccio, caprese and lots more. The ambience is also very nice as the restaurant is housed in a cosy heritage shop house. In fact this unique location is one of the reasons Senso has been on my radar for so many years.

What to see at Singapore Garden Festival 2018

The biennial Singapore Garden Festival is back again and this is the 7th edition. SGF is the first show to bring together top international award-winning landscape and garden designers, florists and horticulturists from around the world, who are invited to the Festival to work alongside Singapore’s own talented horticulturists.

In case this doesn’t sound familiar, do you remember the wondrous fantasy garden showcase that was held in Suntec? Yes, this is the Singapore Garden Festival I am talking about and after the opening of Gardens by the Bay in 2012, the Singapore Garden Festival has been held there since 2014.

Guest chef Joshua Marshall, executive chef of W Taipei will be showcasing flavours from his hometown of Southern California and his second home in Taipei, at The Westin Singapore for a limited time only. Chef Marshall has also worked at The Four Seasons, St Regis, Waldorf and now W Taipei. His wife is Taiwanese, which explains his eagerness to also showcase familiar Taiwanese favourites.

Kakuida’s Kurozu : Healthy yet delicious donuts, it’s true!

If you walk past the newly opened Kakuida’s unassuming storefront at Icon Village opposite Tanjong Pagar MRT station, you might be forgiven for thinking that this is yet another shop selling donuts and tea drinks. But the key difference here is that every single item sold at Kakuida’s is infused with a dose of healthy Japanese black vinegar, aka Kurozu in Japanese.
