KPO – Killiney Post Office cafe bar

I don’t know who came up with the name KPO, but that person sure is a smart fella. KPO, if you don’t already know, is a cafe and bar situated at the Killiney Post Office building (yes the post office is still operational!). KPO = Killiney Post Office, what’s so smart about that you say. Well, how’s this? KPO is also happens to be situated on the corner of Killiney Road, Penang Road and Orchard Road. Now is that cool or what??? Word plays turn me on….ahem…moving along…

After my huge 8 eatery Gastromania Feast at Far East Square, I still managed to wobble to Orchard Road to meet up with my JC mates. Not only did I continue to have a drink at Oriole Cafe, I managed to down some Vietnamese beef pho at Killiney Road, and still have space for a peach Bellini at KPO. Nearly 10 hours of feasting…phew!

KPO Peach Bellini

Here’s the peach bellini I had for $22. Didn’t taste of peach at all. A little disappointing actually.

KPO unidentified drink

Here’s what one of my friends had. Didn’t manage to take down the name.

Exterior seating area

KPO looks cool huh, especially at night. Took this picture off, which owns KPO as well as Balaclava and Wala Wala. Taken from this angle, I can’t even recognise this as a place in Singapore!

KPO (2)

There is indoor seating as well as outdoor. This was taken from the 2nd floor outdoor seating area.

See the Singapore Post sign?

KPO Cooked Food Combo

It seems that they serve cooked meals as well. Didn’t get to try any out for obvious reasons. Maybe next time.

Oriole Cafe & Bar

Calling out to all scone lovers out there, I’ve found another good place to have scones! And this time it doesn’t involve having to step into a posh hotel nor spend a fortune on it. In fact, these scones can be found right smack in the heart of Orchard Road. There’s no better reason to stop for a cuppa and some scones than a hard day’s worth of shopping, right???

Oriole Cafe - Scones with Jam and Clotted Cream

I present to you, Oriole Cafe’s scones! 3 raisin scones with Devonshire clotted cream and raspberry grappa jam for only $6.50, which means just over $2 per scone! This IS undoubtedly the cheapest scone deal I have come across! And for goodness sakes, you get clotted cream with it! It’s not the best clotted cream (it feels lighter than usual) but it’s clotted cream nonetheless! The scones are real tasty too. They’re light and airy and fresh. Paired with that cream and jam, and washed down with some good coffee, it’ll put a zing in your step so that you have enough energy for round 2 of shopping!

I hear Oriole Cafe makes a good cuppa but I have yet to try. In fact, the menu looks pretty interesting too. Too bad I was only there for a quick meeting with someone. Thanks Chek for introducing me to this place! Definitely going come back again soon to sample more of their dishes.

Oriole Cafe - Iced Lemon Tea

$5.50 Iced Lemon Tea – Not sweet enough. Hah, that’s usually the case when it is not pre-sweetened. I can never bring myself to pour in the entire contents of the sugar syrup pot…
