5 fun activities to enjoy with your families this Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is a time for families and friends to get together to rekindle and strengthen their relationships. In previous decades, or should I say centuries ago, this was an important period because people lived far from each other, and means of communication was harder than it is today. These days, especially in Singapore, you will find more and more people who do not put much significance on celebrating Chinese New Year anymore. I’m sure we all know people who prefer to travel overseas during Chinese New Year, or some simply just stay at home. To put a positive angle on it, it’s probably because it’s so easy to connect with friends and relatives these days, with social media and all, not to mention that all corners of Singapore is reachable within an hour or so.

All about Edward : Your top 10 favourite things as a 17th month old toddler

You know I’ve written hundreds of articles on food, and I’ve barely written anything about Baby that it’s a little embarrassing. We’ve been giving Edward crayons to try out since he was 6 months old (supervised of course), but it’s only in the last couple of months that he suddenly gained deep interest in them. He LOVES crayons! He loves to hold them, he loves chucking them out of the box, grabbing a few at a time and scattering them around. He will also make marks on the drawing paper, nothing fancy so far, just random scribbles. And even though he may have a few with him on the highchair, he still insists on getting hold of every crayon within sight.

Btw, I’ve tried 3 different types of crayons and so far the Faber Castell Jumbo Erasable crayons 12 in a box is the best in terms of saturation and being break-proof. It’s been a month and the crayons have all survived except for a green one that cracked after being thrown onto the edge of a table. Oh and the reason why I even have 3 different boxes is because my heart breaks a little each time a crayon is broken so I figured I need spares, lots of them….

If you have been following my blog, you might have noticed that things have been a little different in this household for several months now. I had planned to make a proper introduction/announcement however in the name of wanting it to be perfect, the post ended up getting delayed. And of course there was the initial sleepless nights trying to handle this new gift. Oh well, now is just as good a time as any other so let me just get the introductions done!

Everybody, meet Edward! Our lovely baby boy born on February 2016!
