How to travel around Singapore using the MRT Train System

Here is a map of Singapore’s Mass Rapid Transit stations, affectionately called as MRT. Click on the map to get a bigger version. The dotted lines means that the stations aren’t ready. The MRT line covers a huge part of Singapore. Even the Changi Airport is connected to the MRT line, so you can take the train all the way from the airport to town (Raffles City and Orchard Road). There is no dedicated express train service from the airport to town, like what you have in London, but the MRT should definitely suffice.

If you have huge bags, just take a taxi because it’s so affordable! From the Airport to Orchard Road during off peak hours, it probably only costs SGD$25. There is a 35% surcharge during peak hours, in addition to toll gantries in the city that cost about $3 or so. Each taxi can sit up to a max of 4 passengers.
