Fullerton Hotel’s revamped Chocolate Buffet at The Courtyard

[Media Invite]

Are you a lover of chocolate? Or desserts? If you are, you will want to check out The Courtyard’s new and improved Chocolate Buffet. It’s not just any o spread of chocolate desserts, new elements have been added to up the excitement factor.

The Chocolate Buffet at The Courtyard

First up, the Chocolate Buffet now offers a small selection of savoury food. Hands up those of you who feel intimidated over the idea of having to plough through a ton of decadent chocolate? We all love chocolate of course, but as adults we also know there is a limit to how much of the same thing we can consume before we reach the dreaded “palate fatigue”. Now, you can take a break from the decadent chocolate items with savouries like Cocoa and Spice-rubbed Baby Pork Ribs or Salmon Mini Quiches. You could also treat it like a light dinner too, if you don’t want the inconvenience of having to separately eat dinner prior to the Chocolate Buffet.

For the serious chocolate lover, you won’t want to miss the Valrhona Tasting Table, where 12 varieties of chocolate in bite-sized coins of varying cocoa percentages are available so that you can savour the chocolate unadulterated.

There is even a made to order plated chocolate dessert at the Live Nitro Station. Here, liquid nitrogen is used to freeze the ingredients such as chocolate sponge, crumble, espuma and meringue, which will be hidden under a chocolate sphere for you to dramatically break open.

Oh, do not miss out on the Hot Chocolate Trolley because that’s what happened to me as it was hidden behind the Live Nitro Station! This is where you can create your own hot chocolate from 6 types of Valrhona chocolate and spices such as cardamom, chilli and anise.

And of course, the actual Chocolate Buffet spread of various desserts using chocolate in one way or another. Think cakes, macarons, tarts, shooters and the chocolate fountain. Scroll down to see more pictures of the spread and cute photos of the toddler stuffing his face with chocolate éclair.

Marina Bay Sands– Birthday buffet at the revamped RISE Restaurant

I like visiting Marina Bay Sands. For one, I love the spaciousness and natural lighting of the place. Even on crowded weekends, there are stretches of the mall which are still quiet. And even though I hardly buy anything from the stores because most of the stores are high-end stores, I do frequent the F&B outlets quite a bit. There’s also the Art-Science Museum, which gives a vibe unlike any other museum in Singapore. I feel like I’m visiting an overseas museum whenever I’m there. It certainly helps that there’s a cafe at the Art-Science museum now, because I always like to have a cuppa after a visit to the museum when I’m overseas. I could tell you more about it but that’s another story for another day.

Marina Bay Sands Rise Restaurant Lunch Buffet (18)

Today, the story will be about the recently revamped RISE Restaurant buffet that we visited to celebrate my mother’s birthday. Oh this is not a media invite, if you were wondering. If you’ve been to the previous iteration of RISE, you’ll realise from the pictures that the decor has all changed. The restaurant looks even more spacious now, thanks to a better seating layout. Yet despite the size, many tables are round booth seats, so you feel cosy and cocooned off from the rest of the restaurant. You will also see hues of emerald blue, jade green, light ash timber and bronze for a touch of elegance. Spend some time to look at the hand-made tiles on the buffet counter facades, which pays homage to Southeast Asian culture.

A total of 8 open-concept kitchens, with “live cooking stations” so more food can be served up fresh.

The Chinese New Year 2018 media tastings are coming in fast and furious, and it’s not a minute too early because have you heard, some popular restaurants are already fully booked or close to being fully booked. Some hotels have even resorted to opening up their ballrooms to cater for more reunion dinner tables, although those are likely to be buffet style because getting manpower on Chinese New Year Eve is going to be craaaazy!

Pan Pacific Edge Restaurant Theatrical Sunday Champagne Brunch Extravaganza

A couple of weeks back, the Partner and I celebrated an early Christmas by going for a Sunday Champagne Brunch at Pan Pacific Edge Restaurant. I have never attended a Sunday Super Brunch before. I’ve always wanted to, but it’s just so expensive! In the grand scheme of things, a Sunday Super Brunch buffet (a few hotels offer this) is the most expensive buffet you will find, costing well over a hundred dollars, and sometimes nearing $200. In this case, because it was the Christmas period, and because there was UNLIMITED Champagne and cocktails, it was on the high end at $179++, per pax!

But what can I say, it was the most festive and most rambunctious event / buffet I have ever been to. And it’s longer than other buffets too at 4 hours, instead of the usual 3. But you know the 4 hours passed SO QUICKLY! There were loads of Ang Mohs out in huge groups celebrating Christmas. And when Ang Mohs + alcohol meet, it makes for a very jovial atmosphere. Many had even brought along their Christmas hats and reindeer antlers. I wanted to bring mine too but I forgot!
