Not many hotels in Singapore offer afternoon tea buffets in Singapore. Conrad Singapore Orchard (the former Regent Hotel) is one of them. The spread is not as wide as that of Goodwood Park Hotel, but in my opinion, the quality tends to be better. Nevertheless, the buffet spread is still large enough that I couldn’t finish trying everything that I wanted to. (Scroll to the bottom for link for discounted afternoon tea)
After 10 long years (omg look at the pricing then!), I finally made my way back to the afternoon tea buffet here. The buffet is only available on the weekends. Which is why for my last two visits to the then Regent Hotel, I had to settle for a 3-tiered weekday afternoon tea.

I love the Tea Lounge where the afternoon tea is served. It’s tucked away in a comfortable corner rather than right smack in the middle of the hotel. We managed to snag the sofa seats, which is always a good choice when you have kids. Kudos to the team who decorated the buffet line, it simply looks so festive and whimsical.
For the hot savouries, there is a mix of local and Western dishes. Although I tend to go for the Western items when it comes to afternoon tea, I was surprised to find myself going for seconds for the Satay and peanut sauce. Satay was tender and that peanut sauce was so flavourful and punchy. The seafood soup is not to be missed too, especially in this rainy weather.
It’s nice to see Beef Wellington on the menu. Everyone knows that turkey is associated with Christmas, but did you know that Beef Wellington is a staple during Christmastime as well? Although perhaps not so in Singapore.
The canapes table is where things start to look more “afternoon tea” like. Very eye-catching and delicious looking canapes. My favourite has got to be the canape above which contains some foie gras. Despite it being a little limp, I polished off 3.
Alas, I had to give the cheese table a complete miss. I was so full that I simply did not have space and time.
Moving on to the desserts, again so many delicious things to try, and all looking so pretty you wish you could swipe some home to hang on your own Christmas tree.
The Tea Lounge is famous for their scones. 10 years ago I wrote about it, and am glad to report that the scones are still very good. And see how much clotted cream I’ve taken, it’s not much at all. I ate it all!
Two beverages are included in the buffet. Be sure to order your drinks quickly because the last order for drinks is at 1.20pm. I was a bit taken aback when they came around for last orders for drinks almost 1 hour prior to the afternoon tea buffet ending!
In fact my biggest grouse is that 2hrs 15 minutes is just too short to enjoy a buffet, even if it is just an afternoon tea buffet. People still come hungry and expect to be able to raid the buffet table several times. And if anything, because it’s afternoon tea, people expect to be able to sit back and relax amongst unhurried conversations. The very essence of afternoon tea is lost when it is so hurried.

Also had no choice but to skip the fruits section because time and stomach space was limited
A little jarring and perhaps unnecessary to include so many kueh kuehs in a festive afternoon tea buffet…
This was also supposed to be a belated birthday celebration for Charlotte, but she was sick that day so I took over the honours.
