What to eat at East Coast Park?

East Coast Park is one of Singapore’s most famous parks thanks to its location, its scenic coastline that stretches over 15 km and the multitude of activities that can be enjoyed there such as BBQing, camping, cycling and dining by the seaside. Did you know that more than 7 million people visit East Coast Park a year?

If you haven’t visited East Coast Park in a while, you may be interested to know that it has undergone a number of changes in the past few years.

  1. Parkland Green – The old golfing range has been turned into Parkland Green, a dining enclave with a huge lawn for activities. (Opened in late 2014)
  2. Marine Cove – Also known as the area where McDonalds is located. It has finally been renovated and now boasts 5 eateries plus a huge children’s playground. (Reopened in mid 2016)
  3. Seafood Centre – There are non-seafood centric eateries here, namely halal restaurant Enak Enak Hong Kong Teahouse!
  4. Big Splash – Vacant and awaiting redevelopment
  5. Raintree Cove (Where Burger King used to be) – Vacant and awaiting redevelopment
  6. GoldKist (Chalets) – Vacant and awaiting redevelopment

So…. the key question is, what is there to eat at East Coast Park, aside from the Hawker Centre near the East Coast lagoon? Scroll down to find out more! The eateries are arranged by location, from nearest to town and then heading east. Note the carpark area, to make wayfinding easier. Scroll to the end for the Google map of East Coast Park.

McDonald’s at East Coast Park Marine Cove opens again!

By now, you might have heard of the news that McDonalds has reopened again at East Coast Park after a 4 year hiatus. Although there is no more drive-through, the McDonalds is now brighter and airier looking thanks to the lofty roof and bright yellow hues all around. And boy is it modern looking too, with the salad bar and dessert bar. I had the opportunity to check it out on their grand opening on 2nd July. It was packed to the gills!!! There was even a lion dance performance at the auspicious hour of 3.38 pm to commemorate the opening! One of those lions spat a lettuce onto my head so I’m going to have to buy Toto soon.

You have to check out the new East Coast Park McDonalds. They have some stuff here that isn’t available at other outlets, eg the salad bar! Who would have thought that the day would come when we would see a salad bar in McDonalds. And did I mention that this outlet is perfect for spending the entire day? They have free Singtel Wifi, electrical sockets and air charge to charge your handphones!

What to eat at East Coast Park – Seafood Centre

I had the opportunity to visit East Coast Park yesterday afternoon. East Coast Park is so different on a weekday as compared to the weekends. With hardly anybody around, it was such a joy to be out there under the blue skies, enjoying the sea breeze as the trees gently sway in the dappled sunlight. I felt truly blessed to have the opportunity to enjoy this moment, even if fleeting.

Took a walk to the East Coast Park Seafood Centre area, previously known as the UDMC Seafood Centre. They even have their own Wikipedia link, although it doesn’t seem to be very updated. It was pretty quiet there except for McDonalds.

McDonald's @ Seafood Centre

Yes, did you know there is a McDonalds’ still at East Coast Park??

Seafood Centre - View from McDonalds (2)

I don’t think many people know that McDonald’s has moved from the Marine Cove area opposite Marine Parade, to the Seafood Centre area opposite the Bedok/Bayshore flyover. What a pity, because you can see the absolutely wonderful views from the alfresco area of McDonalds. One day I’m going to bring my laptop here and order a huge cuppa and just blog away. The views are so much better than what it was previously, in fact the previous McDonald’s didn’t really have a view if you think about it. Such an idyllic place, just as well it is a secret!

$2 Fish Filet from 7 to 13 June 2012 from McDonald’s. Now here’s a treat that I’ll definitely be going for. Filet-O-Fish is one of my favourite burgers at McDonald’s! I think my all time sinful favourite has got to be Double Cheeseburger, but it’s just so sinful I usually stick with Fish Filet. Ah well. Gotta strike a balance you know. Flash the coupon on your mobile to redeem. Save paper, don’t print.
