Four Seasons Hotel’s One-Ninety Restaurant reopens after botanical-inspired transformation

The modern Asian brasserie One-Ninety Restaurant  at Four Seasons Hotel is now open after a botanical-inspired makeover. This heritage-botanical theme is in line with the theme used by the the recently renovated hotel rooms and suites. If One-Ninety Restaurant previously struck you as cavernous and aloof, it now exudes a much more inviting and friendly vibe, yet still retaining its classy nature.

Four Seasons One Ninety Restaurant

The revamped restaurant now serving Provençal cuisine with an Asian twist,  also boasts a newly minted Restaurant Chef Kamarl John, who previously worked at Four Seasons London (I’ll be visiting in just a few day’s time!!) as well as at Adrift at MBS.

Signature dishes here include the Seasonal Seafood Tower for Two, the Chargrilled 1.2kg Forty Days Aged Rib Chop MBS 6 and the Iberico Pork Presa & Collar. Even the complimentary bread showcases Chef Kamarl’s creative craftsmanship as the Artisan Sourdough bread is made from flour sourced from artisanal mills in Hokkaiddo, ground by hand and blended to his specification, and the loaves baked fresh daily at One-Ninety.

New and unique dim sum dishes only for a short time at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel Wan Hao Restaurant

[Media Invite]

Hands up those who looooove dim sum???? I did a poll recently and most people voted that dim sum is good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I certainly could eat dim sum at any time of the day. But the thing is, most places these days stick to the tried and tested dim sum dishes, so it is quite exciting to be able to find something new when it comes to dim sum.

For a short time only, April to be exact, Wan Hao Restaurant at Marriot Hotel will be offering up some unique dim sum creations that are worth checking out.

Christmas 2018–Attractively-priced Festive semi-buffets at Four Seasons Hotel

Gosh has it been 6 years? Four Seasons Hotel will always hold a soft spot in my heart because that’s where we got married just under 6 years ago. I’ve only been back once since, for my cousin’s wedding a couple of years back (the elegant Grand Ballroom’s floor to ceiling glass wall is just hard to resist). So happy to be able to revisit once again. I hear the rooms have undergone a refurbishment, I would certainly be keen to check them out. I remember being very impressed with the classy decor back then.

What’s impressive too is the Christmas spread that will be dished up to diners during this Christmas festive season. If you’re having any of the festive buffets at One-Ninety Restaurant, you must check out things like the duck liver parfait with Jamon, the chestnut soup, the fresh seafood spread and the turkey. I don’t think I’ve ever come across chestnut soup before, but the chestnut soup that night was so memorable, it’s a wonder why this velvety and earthy soup isn’t more widely available. It was so good, I’ve since bought a packet of chestnuts to hopefully recreate a similar tasting soup at home. The seafood spread needs no introduction except for me to say that it was very fresh. And as for the turkey, don’t skip it because this is one very tender version. The buffet spread also features high quality imported cheeses from France and Italy.

If you feel a full buffet is just too much to indulge in and too painful on the wallet, Four Season’s Festive Semi-Buffets are worth considering. For example they have the following semi-buffets in addition to full-buffets and set courses:

  • Festive Semi-Buffet Lunch (3-30 Dec 2018 except Christmas/New Year’s  Day) – $58/adult
  • Christmas Eve Semi-Buffet Dinner (24 Dec 2018) – $128/adult
  • Christmas Day Semi-Buffet Dinner (25 Dec 2018) – $88/adult
  • New Year’s Day Semi Buffet Brunch (1 Jan 2019) – $88/adult

I’ve been looking at Christmas buffet pricings of various hotels and for a top-tier hotel, this is a tad cheaper than if you were to go for full buffets! So you still get to bask in the Christmassy atmosphere but at a “discount”. Scroll down for a selection of photos from the Christmas buffet.

Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre

We were recently invited to check out Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre as they have a new promotion called Jump Start Your Weekend. I was keen to book a date soon after our return from our New Zealand travels, because you know, you always need another holiday to recover from the 1st holiday! And it’s also nice to be able to look forward to a little something when you feel depressed that your big holiday is over. And as for Edward, he loves hotels and is always keen to check out yet another! Staycation here we come!

Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre Staycation (12)

As far as I can see, there are only 2 room types at Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre and we were provided the Premier King room. We had asked for a room on a high floor and with a good view, something that we always ask for when we check into hotels. In this case, we managed to snag a 7th floor room (the hotel is 8 storeys high) and facing the expressway. Yes this is actually the better view because right across the expressway is the Istana grounds, so its basically greenery directly after the expressway. And I must say the windows were thick enough such that we couldn’t hear the expressway traffic anyway, so that was fine.
