Christmas 2018– Festive Delights at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa

If you’ve been dreaming of spending Christmas overseas, but can’t for some reason, what about considering spending Christmas in Sentosa? I mean where else can you get the beach resort vibe? The money you save from having to spend on air-tickets overseas can get you a staycation in Sentosa.

Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa (1)

Does this picture not say it all? Lush tropical setting away from the maddening crowd. This picture was taken at the Sofitel Singapore Sentosa’s So SPA, and Sentosa houses the world’s largest So SPA in the world. The So SPA is an annex next to the main hotel wing, with a separate pool just for the spa guests.

Christmas 2018–Attractively-priced Festive semi-buffets at Four Seasons Hotel

Gosh has it been 6 years? Four Seasons Hotel will always hold a soft spot in my heart because that’s where we got married just under 6 years ago. I’ve only been back once since, for my cousin’s wedding a couple of years back (the elegant Grand Ballroom’s floor to ceiling glass wall is just hard to resist). So happy to be able to revisit once again. I hear the rooms have undergone a refurbishment, I would certainly be keen to check them out. I remember being very impressed with the classy decor back then.

What’s impressive too is the Christmas spread that will be dished up to diners during this Christmas festive season. If you’re having any of the festive buffets at One-Ninety Restaurant, you must check out things like the duck liver parfait with Jamon, the chestnut soup, the fresh seafood spread and the turkey. I don’t think I’ve ever come across chestnut soup before, but the chestnut soup that night was so memorable, it’s a wonder why this velvety and earthy soup isn’t more widely available. It was so good, I’ve since bought a packet of chestnuts to hopefully recreate a similar tasting soup at home. The seafood spread needs no introduction except for me to say that it was very fresh. And as for the turkey, don’t skip it because this is one very tender version. The buffet spread also features high quality imported cheeses from France and Italy.

If you feel a full buffet is just too much to indulge in and too painful on the wallet, Four Season’s Festive Semi-Buffets are worth considering. For example they have the following semi-buffets in addition to full-buffets and set courses:

  • Festive Semi-Buffet Lunch (3-30 Dec 2018 except Christmas/New Year’s  Day) – $58/adult
  • Christmas Eve Semi-Buffet Dinner (24 Dec 2018) – $128/adult
  • Christmas Day Semi-Buffet Dinner (25 Dec 2018) – $88/adult
  • New Year’s Day Semi Buffet Brunch (1 Jan 2019) – $88/adult

I’ve been looking at Christmas buffet pricings of various hotels and for a top-tier hotel, this is a tad cheaper than if you were to go for full buffets! So you still get to bask in the Christmassy atmosphere but at a “discount”. Scroll down for a selection of photos from the Christmas buffet.

Christmas 2018 – An illuminating Christmas at Pan Pacific Singapore

Christmas is but just over a month away. Are you ready for all the festivities!??!?!? Based on years of experience, do not wait till Christmas Eve or Christmas Day to celebrate the day, because the precious day just goes so fast. IMHO, you need to get into the Christmas spirit now! Start soaking in the festivities now, because before you know it, January will descend upon us like a ton of bricks.

So that means meeting up with friends over Christmas afternoon tea and Christmas dinner, walking down Orchard Road to see the Christmas Lights (it’ll still be fun even if you aren’t a fan of Disney) and stocking up on Christmas cookies and log cake. If you’re thinking of buying a real live Christmas tree but not sure about it, I say go for it. The smell of fresh pine is incredible, and even if you do not decorate it with a single ornament, your house will still smell of Christmas.

In the next few days I will be featuring places to get your Christmas goodies or have your Christmas Eve / Christmas Day lunch or dinner. Scroll down to read more!

Swissotel Merchant Court Staycation 2018

It’s no secret that we love going on staycations. If I could, I would check into a new hotel every month. Even the toddler loves staycations. At one point in time, it was quite dangerous to even mention the word “hotel” because then he’d launch into a big tantrum if you didn’t take him to one straight away! Given that it’s going to be peak season for staycations in December, here’s my review of Swissotel Merchant Court to give you some idea of where to staycation next.

Swissotel Merchant Court Birthday Staycation

We previously stayed in Swissotel Merchant Court back in 2016, when Edward was still a baby! There are many things that we really like about Swissotel Merchant Court. First of all, the colour scheme. I really love the bright yellow hues, it just makes you feel so joyous and welcomed. The rooms are always very well-appointed. And for me, location location location. It being smack next to Clark Quay Central as well as Clarke Quay MRT station makes it so convenient. There are lots of restaurants to choose from, lots of shops. And even if you don’t want to spend a single dime, Clarke Quay is a great place to just chill by the steps of the river and people watch. And for Pokemon Go players, Clarke Quay is teeming with PokeStops and mons!

Swissotel Merchant Court Crossroads Bar Afternoon Tea

Can you believe that it’s going to be Christmas soon? It’s cliched to say this but seriously, where has the time gone? I was looking through my photo archives and reminiscing the celebration we had for Edward’s 2nd birthday, when I realised that in just a few months time, it’ll be time to celebrate his 3rd birthday!  Where has the round headed baby gone?

Happy 2nd Birthday to Edward

Speaking of celebrations, here’s how we celebrated his 2nd birthday, over afternoon tea at the Swissotel Merchant Court. An apt time to be posting this because I often associate cosy afternoon tea sessions with Christmas time. Apart from Christmas posts, you’ll be seeing more afternoon tea and staycation posts now that it’s the holiday period! I certainly hope you love the Christmas period as much as I do.

Afternoon Tea at Swissotel Merchant Court

Swissotel Merchant Court Crossroads Bar serves a Peranakan inspired afternoon tea, available daily from 3pm – 5pm. Nyonya savouries such as petite braised pork bely in steam leaf bun, otak otak on toast, sambal ayam panggang sandwiches and freshly made kueh pie tee to name a few, will be served on a tiered platter. When we were there earlier this year, they also had a Western afternoon tea set, so we asked them to mix and match the items. The food you see below is for a 2 persons order. My parents came to join us for the cake cutting and candle blowing!
