Chinese New Year 2018– Golden Duck with 22-carat French Gold Flakes from Kam’s Roast

[Media Invite]

Kam's Roast - Whole Roast Duck, Iberico Char Siu, Crispy Roast Pork

Prosperity Trio (Whole Roast Duck, Iberico Char Siu, Crispy Roast Pork) – $108 (Takeaway only)

How about living it up this Chinese New Year by getting Kam’s Roast Golden Duck flecked with 22-carat edible French Gold Flakes? Kam’s Roast usual Roast Duck costs $66, but if you want the Golden Duck, it costs $88. OK I guess most people would go for the original Roast Duck to save $22, but the Golden Duck might actually be a good gift for your business clients if you had to get a CNY gift for them!

Misato– Fabulous and affordable Matcha desserts, and they aren’t a cafe!

Misato is tucked away right inside The Centrepoint, where the new Gastro+ area is (or where the old Marks & Spencers was). I’ve been seeing Misato pop up on my social media feeds and was wondering if it is just a fad. I have to say, after having tried their food, this place is worth a visit due to the affordable pricing, the fabulous matcha desserts and the exquisite dinnerware that makes you feel like you are dining at a posh Japanese restaurant.

I am told they spent $400k for the dinnerware alone when setting up the restaurant! It is a pity that most people will not realise this when walking past because the restaurant decor looks rather casual to the untrained eye. So you heard it here first! Please go check out Misato and enjoy the atas food at casual prices!

Misato - Matcha Bavarois (Premium green tea French pudding) $7.80 (2)

Matcha Bavarois (Premium green tea French pudding) $7.80

Back to the Matcha desserts. You might have seen this wobbly Matcha Bavarois on Instagram. This is not merely an Instagram-worthy dessert, it actually tastes as good as it looks. The matcha taste comes on strongly (very good quality Nara matcha imported from Japan is used), and the pudding is smooth and somewhere between soft and bouncy, if there can be such a thing. It’s almost like eating matcha ice cream except in pudding form. Every bite was savoured! And it only costs $7.90!

~~~ Arteastiq ~~~
Arteastiq - Two Way Lobster (Lobster Thermidor and otah stuffed lobster shell, served with barley risotto) $38
 Two Way Lobster (Lobster Thermidor and otah stuffed lobster shell, served with barley risotto) $38
This pretty as a picture lobster dish was equally tasty. I really liked the lobster thermidor half, but I was thankful to still have the otah half, or else the whole dish might have been too creamy. It’s not common to see barley being used as the starch, but I think it complemented the rich thermidor and otah flavours. I also liked the bouncy firmness, and hey barley has many health benefits which is great!
Marriott Cafe– Seafood Extravaganza buffet with over 50 seafood dishes!
Situated conveniently outside the Orchard MRT station, Marriott Cafe has long been one of the go to places for buffets. But just for a short time only until 15 March 2017, Marriott Cafe will be offering the Ocean to Plate : A Seafood Extravaganza buffet featuring over 50 seafood dishes! If you are a seafood lover, you have to check out this buffet. Some of the highlights include:
– Fresh seafood on ice including Boston Lobsters, oysters, crabs etc
– Salmon Sashimi
– Seafood Bouillabaisse
– Seafood Skewers
– Salted Egg Prawns
That doesn’t mean that they’ve hidden the meats either. There will still be a live carving station offering Roast Pork Saddle, roast Prime Rib of beef and more. The salad bar is pretty impressive too, as there are various salad leaves to choose from instead of 1 generic pile of leaves. And you must check out the superb chocolate cake from the dessert section, it’s one of the best chocolate cakes I have eaten! Scroll down for all the pictures.
