The Chop House at VivoCity

image

If you’ve ever been to the Wooloomooloo Steakhouse in Raffles City, you may be delighted to know that the same people have opened up another F&B outlet in the form of gastro-bar The Chop House. I can just imagine bosses who aren’t brave enough to fire their non-performing employees, bringing them to The Chop House and saying there’s more than 1 thing going Chop this evening. Ok, bad joke. Oh well, I tried.

This is a much more casual joint as compared to Wooloomooloo. While I loved the experience of dining in the dim, quite atas Wooloomooloo, The Chop House has a more open, see through vibe to it. Dining here won’t cause your wallet to be chopped into two either.

The Chop House - (4)-tile

The most interesting feature here, apart from the food is that The Chop House offers Singapore’s first SelfTap Beer system. A total of 5 taps are located in and around the restaurant, where customers are able to pull pints at their leisure. The great thing about this is that if you just want to drink a few sips of beer, you can go ahead to dispense yourself that amount, and be charged by the millilitre instead of pint! And if you want your beer super cold, but you are a tortoise like me and your beer always gets warm, you can simply pour a small portion, and refill again later so the beer is always icy cold! All you have to do is purchase a stored value card from the cashier for $5, top up the card with a value of your choice and tap the card against the SelfTap reader to tap away your very own beer!

Zafferano – Amazing Burrata, Amazing Steak

*Media Invite*

I’ve been wanting to visit Zafferano for the longest time since they opened at the top of Ocean Financial Tower. Booked it once for Restaurant Week to go with my BFF, but for some reason we were too busy and couldn’t make it in the end. It’s been on my radar ever since so I was really happy to receive an invitation from Zafferano to try out some dishes on their menu.

02 - Main dining area 1

It was a pity I couldn’t arrive before it got dark, because the place is breath-taking! The night views are still awesome, but I wish I could have a look to see what it looks like during the daytime. Judging from these photos provided by Zafferano, it must have been wonderful.

07 - Wine Room

We had our lovely dinner tasting inside the private Wine Room. As you can see, it is glass walled for the most part, with the wine bottles acting like the decor. Tastefully done I must say. I’m always on the look out for the best private rooms in Restaurants so that I can give my father good suggestions for his next company / client dinner. One thing’s for sure, the room is very well enclosed such that when the doors are shut, you can hardly hear the bustle of the restaurant.

DBS Travel Insurance Plan–TravellerShield

I was at Ngee Ann City today for a spot of shopping and guess what I found?

St Regis Afternoon Tea Dance

*Media Invite*

If you’ve been looking for a good place to have a spot of afternoon tea, you might just want to consider the Grand Astor Afternoon Tea. Did you know, the afternoon tea ritual is a social institution and a gastronomic affair practiced at all St. Regis addresses worldwide? It’s a cherished ritual I certainly wouldn’t mind partaking in every weekend. Couldn’t think of a better way to spend my weekend in fact, with a loved one or good friends of course. Smile

St Regis

At St Regis’s Brasserie Les Saveurs restaurant, you will be served an elegant quintessential three-tiered silver stand with classic finger sandwiches like sliced tomato and cucumber, and smoked salmon and dill cream cheese. Heartier bites like pot pie and quiche of the day will also be available. And this is of course paired with your selection from 24 TWG exclusive tea blends or a St Regis custom blended fragrant coffee.

Brasserie Les Saveurs Afternoon Tea (28)

But wait, that’s not all, because there is a scone bar featuring both sweet and savoury scones! Last I counted, there were 6 different flavours of scones to choose from such as the St Regis classic scones, pesto parmesan, black current & lemon, pistachio and cranberry and even Perrigord black summer truffle scones! This comes complete with pots of various jams, as well as the mandatory clotted cream!

Brasserie Les Saveurs Afternoon Tea (12)

It doesn’t end there because there is still the dessert counter with exquisite looking cakes and pastries that are just toooooo pretty to eat! I spent a good amount of time just hovering over the dessert counter taking picture after picture because the cakes were so delectable looking.

Thai Prawn Cakes

Thai Prawn Cakes

The Thai Prawn cakes were undoubtedly my favourite dish of the evening. They were sizzling hot, crispy and a little bit bouncy. It was fun to eat them. The sweet chilli sauce provided is a must try as well as it really enhances the prawn cakes. I was a little greedy and took 2 pieces!
