The Olive Restaurant

There were 2 dining establishments during our stay at Resorts World Genting that were particularly memorable. One of them was The Bakery at Maxims Hotel. That was where we withdrew for the day to relax over a cup of coffee and catch up on our social networks via the free WIFI. The other memorable dining establishment was The Olive Restaurant, just a stone’s throw away from The Bakery actually.

Of the entire 3D2N that we spent at Resorts World Genting, The Olive was single-handedly the most memorable restaurant we visited. The Olive is a fine-dining restaurant and without a doubt, the food was impeccable. The service was excellent too. If I were to return to Genting again and had extra cash to spare, I would most definitely visit The Olive.

We were the 1st customers to arrive at the restaurant at 6pm on a Sunday evening. Love the elegant ambience and lighting.

The Olive - Complimentary Hot Bread

The complimentary bread was excellent! The breads were kept nice and warm in the napkin. Don’t be put off by this black bread, cuz it’s squid ink bread! It was absolutely lovely and it’s one of those places where you could just eat loads and loads of bread and be contented.

My 3Day2Night Genting Adventure!

As promised, this is the blog post detailing my wild weekend in Resorts World Genting, courtesy of the Resorts World people! Yes, fully paid trip for me and the Partner to spend 3 days in Genting! The Resorts World people were so generous, they even gave us 700 ringgit each, to spend on food! Seriously, the Partner and I had such a great time indulging, we actually found the trip too short! I returned from the trip two weeks ago, and I’m still reeling from the experience. Feel like going on holiday again! Anyone who’s smsed me about the trip would have received a barrage of replies from me detailing every aspect, but I guess I have to write about it here to share it with all of you and also for me to relive the wonderful memories!

New Orleans Barbecue Restaurant

On the 1st evening at Genting Resorts World, we had originally wanted to get our Chinese fix at the Genting Palace Restaurant. Unfortunately, it was full and we couldn’t use our meal card there. Luckily, because I had researched on the places to eat at Genting, I quickly led the Partner to the next restaurant on my to-visit list, ie the New Orleans Barbecue Restaurant. This restaurant is located within the Casino in Maxims Genting Hotel, so kids are not allowed to dine there.

Thanks to our having to traverse half the casino to get to the New Orleans Barbecue Restaurant, I also discovered that there are parts of the Casino that are cordoned off only for non-smoking players. Yes, the rest of the casino area allows for smoking and I really do wonder how non-smokers can stay there for hours on end in the smoke! I don’t actually see many people smoking, but because it’s an enclosed area, the smoke lingers! My heart goes out to the croupiers who have no choice but to stay fixed to their tables.

New Orleans is a casual eatery where you can get your fill of steaks, chops, grills and sausages. As with all the other eateries in Resorts World, prices are slightly inflated. However, on the Saturday evening that we were there, it was nearly a full house. In fact, I have to add that all the hotels in the resort where FULL HOUSE for that evening, most likely thanks to a certain Hacken Lee having a live performance that evening.

How many times in Asia do you see me wearing a jacket. Feel like going to Cameron Highlands next to enjoy the cool weather again.
