HighHouse at One Raffles Place launches its lunch menu – High time to visit!

August 30, 2024

Perched on the 62nd floor of One Raffles Place, HighHouse is the new day-to-night nightlife destination by OUE Restaurants, taking over the space formerly housing One Altitude late 2023. It’s difficult to decide which of three visual temptations to set your eye on when you first step in.

Would it be to marvel at the breathtaking views of the Singapore skyline? Or to peruse the extensive alcohol selection showcased in a  floor-to-ceiling cabinet that flanks nearly an entire wall of the restaurant? Or to be captivated by the specially curated immersive art and visuals? Each aspect competes for your attention, setting the stage for the dining experience to come.

Josper Grilled Beef Grain Bowl

Even though newly launched, the lunch menu at HighHouse seems to have already gained significant traction, as evident from the bustling atmosphere with most tables filled, predominantly by professionals and corporate clients. The price point of $48 for 2 courses or $58 for 3 courses is not overly exorbitant for a location that commands such a premium view.
If you are not too focused on striking the next big deal over lunch, I suggest snagging one of the cosy nooks where you can peer out to soak in the views of the Marina Bay skyline. This would be the perfect spot for that OOTD Instagram shot.

Slow Cooked Australian Lamb Ribs

Despite the stunning views, the food more than held its own. The new menu at HighHouse takes inspiration from the vibrant culinary traditions of the Pacific Rim, taking guidance from the philosophy of ‘innovation through tradition’. This means respecting the deep-rooted traditions of Asian cuisines while pushing boundaries to create new dishes. There is a focus on selecting ingredients from the best local and international suppliers to ensure freshness and quality.

Sakura Pork Belly Massaman Thai Curry

The food is indeed a refreshing take on familiar flavours. The changes or additions are subtle, but enough to awaken me out of my midweek malaise. For example you will see the addition of fried garlic and scallion bits to the Slow Cooked Australian Lamb Ribs, something that is not often done in Western cuisine. Or the Sakura Pork Belly Massaman Thai Curry, where the usually more watery curry has been thickened into a nutty sauce. There is an emphasis on not making the dishes overly heavy or rich, given that this is a lunch menu.

Grilled Greenland Halibut

I enjoyed all the dishes, however if I had to highlight a couple, it would be the Dutch Kingfish Carpaccio for packing such punchy flavours in one mouthful, the Grilled Greenland Halibut for being exceptionally tender and buttery tasting, and the Massaman Thai Curry where the addition of candied cashews created a lovely textural contrast.

Chitose Strawberry Mille Feuille

For desserts I say skip the churros, which still seems a tad simple despite the homemade sauces, and go for the elegant and eye-catching Chitose Strawberry Mille Feuille. It really is a masterful harmony of flavors and textures, with the airy chantilly cream, sweet strawberry gel, and crispy mille feuille layers coming together in a delightful symphony. A befitting end to a wonderful lunch at HighHouse.

Fancy having lunch or dinner as well as a round of singing in their private karaoke room? This is probably one of the highest karaoke rooms in Singapore, and one with a view at at that.

Or a more normal looking private room that can be used for meetings
