ACT 3 International is bringing a magical treat for families this September with Beauty and the Beast, an interactive adaptation of the classic French fairy tale by Canada’s DuffleBag Theatre. Known for their witty improvisation and playful style, the troupe adds plenty of humour, unexpected twists, and even surprise appearances from members of the audience.
Perfect for curious young minds, this lively 50-minute show blends storytelling, laughter, and heartwarming lessons about kindness and inner beauty — all wrapped up in a fun introduction to theatre for children.
I’m especially looking forward to catching this show with my kids. They’ve enjoyed similar interactive performances in the past, and it’s always heartening to see them so engaged. Beyond the fun and laughter, I find these outings a wonderful way to cut down on screen time and instead create shared experiences we can talk about long after the curtain falls. And personally, it would be very interesting to see how this stage version differs from the beloved movie as well as the cartoon versions from our childhood.
