It’s not easy to find an affordable afternoon tea in Singapore these days, and especially so during the Christmas season. But yet, I say the festive season is the best time to indulge in a spot of afternoon tea because that’s when all the Christmassy decorations come out. It’s a really good way to soak in the festive atmosphere.
Glad to report that you can still find a festive afternoon tea for less than $50++ per pax at a hotel. Holiday Inn Singapore City Centre’s festive afternoon tea is going at $78++ per TWO pax, so that equates to $39++ per pax. You can also indulge in as many scones as you want because they are free flow. And hey, kids get a free bag of Christmas cookies to bring home to extend the enjoyment!
I must say the food provided in the Festive Afternoon Tea set is quite good. For the savouries, I particularly enjoyed the Norwegian Salmon Remoulade and Caviar on Eclair, as well as the Marinated Prawn Mayo in Choux Puff. And for the sweets, who can resist the eye-catching and cute Santa Claus & Reindeer Macaron??
You can choose to have your afternoon tea at the Lobby Lounge & Bar, or at the Buffet Restaurant. I say go for the Lobby Lounge so that you can enjoy the view of the huge Christmas tree. Or take nice pictures of your afternoon tea with the Christmas tree as your background. You can also people watch and enjoy the buzz of tourists coming in and out, as the Lobby Lounge is right next to the hotel’s registration counter. However if you really must have peace and quiet, the Buffet Restaurant is where you’ll want to go.
Take your time at the afternoon tea at Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre, because you can sit there all the way from 12 noon to 5pm!
I shouldn’t be letting this secret out but here’s a tip for those who will be driving to the hotel. Make use of your complimentary parking by doing some Christmas shopping since you will be in the heart of Orchard Road/Somerset. In fact, why not consider a staycation at the Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre? We thoroughly enjoyed being in the heart of Orchard Road when we last stayed at the hotel. So much shopping and eating to be done just a stone’s throw away!
