I had the opportunity to check out the afternoon tea and I must say this tea set is good for those who want a place to relax for a few hours, with some nibbles and unlimited servings of coffee and tea. If I were working in the CBD and needed a place to carry out business meetings, this might be the perfect solution too. I really love the bright and spacious feel of Lime Restaurant, thanks to the high ceiling and floor to ceiling glass walls. The water features lining the periphery of the restaurant help to exude the “oasis in the middle of a concrete jungle” feeling.

Capella Chef’s Table–Festive Afternoon Tea where you can decorate your own Gingerbread Man

[Media Invite]

It’s my favourite time of the year again and I’m happy to report that Baby loves Christmas! We’d taken him to Capella Chef’s Table Festive Family Tea last weekend and he absolutely loved it! He was smiling and making excited noises the minute we stepped into Chef’s Table. I wouldn’t be surprised, I too was wowed by the festive Christmas decorations in the homely and cosy Chef’s Table. A pretty Christmas tree by the side, and Christmassy firs to adorn each table. Btw it was Baby’s first official “engagement”, and he behaved well! Smile Smile

Grand Copthorne Afternoon Tea–Most value for money afternoon tea!

Let’s face it, having afternoon tea in Singapore in a nice comfortable setting such as a hotel doesn’t come cheap. A few dainty morsels perched on a three-tier tray plus a few cups of tea would normally set you back by about $30 – $40 per pax. So I was quite shocked to discover that Grand Copthorne’s afternoon tea costs only $38++ in total for TWO pax, with free flow coffee/tea!

Look at this afternoon tea set, comprising fried chicken wings, dumplings, tuna croissants, salmon sandwiches, chicken pies, cakes, macarons, éclairs and nyonya kueh, it’s quite substantial for afternoon tea right??? I did a quick poll of some of my friends and they guessed that this would cost $40 per pax! Granted the nibbles may not be the most expensive of items (ie not foie gras etc), but still, I really do think this is a good deal.

Anti:Dote Afternoon Tea at Fairmont Singapore

Every year, I face each impending birthday with mixed feelings. Certainly, birthdays can be joyful occasions, as they are one of the few occasions where people can indulge and celebrate, without feeling too guilty about it (not that I feel very guilty about indulging at any time of the year). But it’s the gloom of being yet another year older that I can’t seem to shake off. Does everyone feel that way too?

Anyway, as with all my birthday celebrations, I like to make it a prolonged event. Just like there are 12 days of Christmas and 15 days of Chinese New Year, why should a birthday be but a day long! I’ve ingrained this into the Partner’s mind, and made the corresponding input in his calendar as well. Smile

This year, I took leave on Friday so as to spend a quiet time over afternoon tea with the Partner. Being a food blogger, I gave him strict instructions for my birthday venue. It had to be an afternoon tea English style (as opposed to local or Peranakan), and the venue had to have a nice ambience. Most importantly, it had to be some place that I had never tried before. And given that I have tried a good many, it was a pretty tough task actually. But I am quite glad to say that the Partner did well by choosing Anti:Dote Bar at Fairmont Hotel Singapore.

Anti:Dote Bar is situated at Fairmont Hotel’s lobby area, facing the driveway. At first glance, the place strikes you as being more bar and business than a place where ladies of leisure would dine at. In fact, the description on Fairmont’s website states it to be a stylish and modern cocktail bar serving drinks crafted with premium spirits and house made bitters, liqueurs and sodas. Wouldn’t strike you as a place to have good food, but we were pleasantly surprised. In fact, I also perused the dinner menu and I must say it looks promising. I do intend to return to check that out.
